This is possibly one of the best analyses of Lambda that you'll ever find. I'm sure it will answer any questions you may have.

and back on topic: What do you mean, the crew bunch up in corners of the flight deck, when to me this shuttle seems to basically be "open" the pilot only being separated from the passengers via a simple curtain, if one is fitted, as it appears too small to have dedicated like that, especially with the ramp placement.
OK, if you watch the Return of The Jedi, during the flight of the Tyderium we see all the way from the cockpit to the back of the 'neck'. There's no door or curtains seen, though we may assume there is a door that has been left open. There is a door between the neck and the main hold as this is visibly closed. Essentially what you have behind the flight deck, so directly above the landing ramp, are a set of seats which we see occupied by some of the strike force, including C-3PO.

Above is my deckplan of the interior, compiled from the set blueprints.
Now, if we assume that the 'neck' seating can fold, and I can't see a good reason not to assume so, then when they're folded up, there'd be enough space to place your feet and allow you to shuffle along fairly quickly from the top of the ramp through to and into the cockpit without raising the ramp itself.
Not ideal, perhaps, but far from difficult, and, like I said, not without real world precedent.

Ahh good. I'm glad to see that somebody is finally getting around to this ship. I've always loved Lambdas.

my one question on this ship has always been..."how in the heck do you get into the cockpit if the ramp is down???"
This has already been discussed in great length on the previous page

Ahh, good ol' lambda. I'd like to see this done all the way, so that I can do a mod ^^

Well, the ramp's always been there, I'm not sure where else you could have thought it would be whilst watching people disembarking it.
It's always been the case that getting the crew in and out of the flight deck whilst the ramp is down is awkward, but hardly without precedent. Getting anyone into the top deck of a C5 is awkward once loading is underway as access is via a pair of folding stairways that come down right into the cargo deck.
In any case, with the passenger seating folded up there is enough space for the crew to shuffle onto the flight deck with the ramp down by stepping onto the lip below them.
Just for reference purposes, having flown in a C5, they also have an external door they can use IIRC [its only been lesseee 15 years since I had a ride in one] for embarcation/debarcation, when a proper access ladder/ramp is available. I've used both access methods.
The flight crew may also not be granted the same comforts that the passengers are [VIP passengers anyway] and be required to use an extendable ladder inset to the front wall of the middle compartment, which would extend down to ramp level when the ramp was extended. Just a thought.

I just found this while surfing through Wookieepedia. Didn't know if anyone working on this project had seen this.
